Practical travel planning

Know the full cost before money crosses a border.

A familiar brand name or attractive headline rate does not tell you what the recipient will receive. Use this checklist before choosing any bank, card, app, cash service, or transfer provider.

Seven checks before you send

  1. Confirm availability. Check that both countries, the intended route, and the required currency are currently supported.
  2. Compare the final recipient amount. Review the exchange rate and every visible fee together, not separately.
  3. Check timing. Estimate when the money should arrive and whether weekends, holidays, verification, or intermediary institutions can delay it.
  4. Verify recipient information. Confirm the exact legal name, account details, currency, and any routing or bank codes before sending.
  5. Understand funding and withdrawal. Card, bank transfer, balance, and cash options may carry different costs, limits, and timing.
  6. Keep a backup. Travelers should maintain a second payment method and enough accessible funds for transport, lodging, food, and emergencies.
  7. Start small when appropriate. For a new recipient or unfamiliar route, consider a smaller transfer first and verify receipt before sending more.

One option to compare

Review the quote, then decide.

Wise is one provider you can include in your comparison. Check the live quote, supported route, verification requirements, total fees, delivery estimate, and recipient amount for your specific transfer.
